In 1983, Gary and Marilyn Skinner, Canadian missionaries, moved witht their family to Kampala, Uganda where they established an
English-speaking church in the heart of the city.  Kampala Pentecostal Church, now a 14,000 member cell-based community church, is
touching the city and nation with the love of God.  Uganda has endured the scourge of civil war and the deadly AIDS epidemic.
Approximately 2 million children in Uganda have been orphaned by these calamities.  Currently there are 880,000* Ugandan children
living as orphans as a result of AIDS (*UNAIDS stats).  In 1992 the Skinners were moved with compassion for Uganda's parentless
children and started Watoto Child Care Ministries to address the Ugandan orphan crisis. "Watoto" (pronounced wah-toe-toe) means
"children" in Swahli.
